Hi All,

Greetings for the day 🙂 LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL 🙂

Microsoft Teams learning / understanding continues. Today we will discuss one setting of how to manage apps in Teams admin center

Take away from this article :

  • Managing Apps from Microsoft Teams admin center
    • Viewing listing apps
    • Allow / Block apps
    • App in Teams desktop client

Details :

Recently I have a session for Microsoft Viva in Microsoft 365 Chicago free virtual event.

One of the module of Microsoft Viva – Viva Connection I need to show but which is blocked by default in Microsoft Teams so we cant use it directly. We need to enable it from Teams admin center. So this is blog 🙂

We could manage apps from Microsoft Teams admin center

When we managing apps for our organization, we are controlling what apps are available to our users in our organization’s app store

We can then use app permission and app setup policies to configure what apps will be available for specific users

To manage apps in Teams, log in to Microsoft Teams admin center as

Microsoft Teams admin center - Teams apps - Manage apps

Once we clicked on “Manage apps” from left side blade under “Teams apps” we will be navigated to manage apps page in Teams admin center as

On manage apps page we could view listing of all apps with respective status either “Allowed” or “Blocked” as shown in above fig

When we block / allow app from manage app from Microsoft Teams admin center page – by default it happens for all users of our organization / company

We have “Search” option to search for specific app as

We could not add blocked apps in our Teams client, for example as in above fig, Viva Connection is blocked by default, if we try to find it out in Teams client we wont find it as

Microsoft Teams desktop client - Searching specific app
Fig : Microsoft Teams desktop client – Searching specific app – since Viva Connection app is blocked – not able to find

We could change the status of specific app from Microsoft Teams admin center by clicking on specific app and navigating to app details page as

Once we have updated status we are able to find “Viva connections” app in Teams client as

Microsoft Teams desktop client - Searching specific app - since Viva Connection app is allowed - we are able to find it now

I’ll stop here today with this one option, in next article we will discuss next settings for managing app
