Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer – A self-help tool to test email related issues
Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer is a self-help tool to test connectivity issues with exchange or email service for any user account or shared mailbox. IT Admins can use this tool to test the mail flow configuration of any newly setup email account or problems with any existing email account.
Tests included in this tool are also intended for those customers who use the Exchange Online Protection service to perform spam and malware filtering before sending email messages to email servers.
IT Admins can send this web-based tool link to end users so that they can perform some defined tests themselves and send results back to IT Admins.
For examples, simple test for checking if the mail flow configuration working, with any email account or shared mailbox, or not is to just try sending email to that email account.
Step 1: Open tool in browser https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/
Step 2: Choose “Service Account Access”
Step 3: Enter email account details and click on Perform test button at the bottom of the page.
Recommended to use authentication type as “Modern Authentication (OAuth)” as it also helps to authenticate MFA enabled accounts.
Same account to be used in “Target mailbox email address” and in “Modern Authentication (OAuth) credentials” (if mailbox enabled for that account).
At the bottom of the page, you will find one notice by Microsoft. Please read it carefully.
Step 4: Test result will appear. End users can send these results back to IT Admins.
