Azure – Certification 70-532-Part 1-Create New Azure Virtual Machine

Hello Friends,
Hope you are doing good !!!
Now we are going to post a series of blog, related to Microsoft certification, Exam 70-532: Developing Microsoft Azure Solutions.
Today in this blog, we will discuss about, how to create a new Azure Virtual Machine. We will guide step by step with figures of each step. So let’s go through the post.

Create a window Virtual Machine

  1. Connect to your Azure portal dashboard using your subscription account. If you don’t have any subscription, in that case you can get trial Azure subscription with one-month of validity. Then you can connect to the azure portal dashboard as in following figure.

  2. Once we are on the portal dashboard, lets click on Virtual Machines. It will lists all existing VMs also allow to add new Virtual Machine, as shown in the following figure.

We have options to choose the size of the VM as per our requirement and later we can scale up if reuired. There are lots of different type of configuration template available. We can select one of them when creating a new VM. Following figure shown the list of VM sizes with different configuration.

If we have the clear requirement of the storage and if we need extra storage space then we can select Disk tab and add more disks. But here we are not adding any additional disk. We can scale up the VM later by adding new disk if required. We will post another blog Azure – Certification 70-532-Part 2- Managing Azure Virtual Machine Disks as shown in the following figure.

Here, I am just providing the very few required information like Name of the VM,Size, Region, UserName, Password and set public inbound port. I kept rest of the configuration as it is and click Review + Create button to create the VM. It will take some time to deploy the VM. We are ready once we got the successful notification as it is shown in following figure.

  5. Click on Connect button, as shown in the above figure, And it will ask to select one of the available option.Whether we should download the RDP file to connect the virtual Machine locally or Connect the VM by SSH option. The SSH option generally taken, if we are creating a linux VM.In our case, we would select RDP option and download the rdp file as shown in the following figure.

    Download RDP of the VM

  6. When we ware creating our VM, We have enabled for RDP connection. We can verify that by going to the networking section of the newly created VM, as shown in the following figure.

Enabled RDP connectionFigure 7:Azure – Enabled RDP connection

  7. Now we are ready with our newly created VM.Let’s login to the Virtual Machine, by providing valid credential and check the configuration of the virtual Machine (VM). As we can see in the following figure, the VM has one “C” drive/OS drive only with limited space.
