SUCCESS – Behaviour/Responsibility
In last few articles we are discussing key ingredients of success, today more 😊
Short article but very important to be successful in life. I’ll share few incidents which recently happens with me. From those incidents I realize how important role human behavior plays in his/her own success.
Behavior is what a man does, not what man thinks, feels or believes – Emily Dickinson.
Incident 1: One of my friend from my society borrowed the laptop charger. He said that he will return in couple of hours. He took at around 2-3 pm IST. I have my project call with my team in night around 9 pm IST. Even 4-5 hours left but he didn’t return the charger. My laptop was also drained. I couldn’t join my meeting. I called several time on phone but no response. I need to go office early morning next day. In morning also, I didn’t receive the charger. I left the message, WhatsApp, called on phone several times but no response. How irresponsible behavior is this. Only option for me is to go his home and get the charger since I was getting late for office. It raised my eyebrows.
I went to his home, I saw that he was sleeping, and mobile is nearby, he just woke up and return the charger and said sorry. I didn’t say anything, took my charger, keep my shirt on and left for the office.
Here I was just thinking, what kind of peoples these are, at least they didn’t understand their own responsibility. I decided to never help such kind of peoples unless and until there is an emergency. This hamper the quality relationship of both of us.
You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. – Jim RohnAmerica’s foremost business philosopher
The price of greatness is responsibility – Winston Churchill
The ‘self-image’ is the key to human personality and human behavior. Change the self-image and you change the personality and behavior. – Maxwell Maltz (an American cosmetic surgeon and author of Psycho-Cybernetics (1960), which was a system of ideas that he claimed could improve one’s self-image.)
Incident 2: One of my team member was working on another floor, daily afternoon he uses to come at my desk and we were discussing the stuff and planning for next session. Daily I either need to call him or ping him for status update and next tasks. He was never supposed to update by himself. One day we have agreed on next day timing to discuss. But on next day on time is neither came nor updated anything. He is also not available online seems to be away since last hour. I almost waited for one hour, sent the mail. Next day he replied to mail saying that was in meeting. How irresponsible behavior is this. Not joining meeting is almost ok, sometime random meetings come but at least communicate. So that person who is waiting for you will understand that you are busy, and he will not wait for you. I turned up my nose for him.
Today in every industry people management is major challenge. Could we imagine what will happen if everybody will just identify their own personal responsibility or have a positive behavior?
Do not make any excuses. Take full responsibility for the direction of your life. – Stephen Covey
Few points to be more responsible:
- Keep our promise: Keep the promise which we given to others. Which not only improves our relationships but increase our credit. Otherwise people stops believing in us. We must follow our commitments.
- No excuses: Never give any excuse or blame others for our failures. We are the 100% responsible for our own failures.
- Set goals and follow them: Most important step for any kind of success. I strongly believe that we must have at least one life time goal and live for that. Without goal life is nothing.
- Procrastination: One of the major hurdle in success. Time is very precious, don’t waste our time in things which didn’t contribute to our success. Maybe I’ll write separate full article for this subject.
LIFE IS VERY BEAUTIFUL. TO HAVE GREAT LIFE JOURNEY WE ALL MUST TAKE OUR 100% PERSONAL RESPONSIBILTY AND LIVE WITH POSITIVE BEHAVIOR.
